Geography

This year we will be building on our previous learning in Geogrpahy, including improving our mapping skills.

In our first topic we will be looking at energy production and its impact on the environment. We will look at fossil fuels and then progress to looking at more sustainable sources of energy including hydro power and wind power.

In Spring we will be doing a class project based on the common wealth country Australia. We will loacate Australia on a world map, look at its physical and human features, its cluture (learning about Indegineous people of Australia), climate and make comparions with the UK.

In Summer term we will be conducting a coastal study; looking at how erosion plays a role in forming our dramatic UK coastline. We will progress our mapping skills by identifying different places effected most by erosion before looking more closely at our own coastline between Formby and AInsdale including its many habitats. Ending our study with a class trip to the AInsdale beach to look at our coastline in person and enjoy a day out at the beach.
