Geography

This year we will be building on our previous learning in Geography, including improving our mapping skills and using a range of digital resources to aid our understanding of the world.

We begin our Year 5 journey by learning about the continent of Oceania; specifically looking at Australia as a country comparison. We revise our world map - identifying the equator and the tropic of Capricorn and Cancer. We will learn about time zones and look at both the human and physical features of the country. We will end our topic with our exciting Australia afternoon.

In Spring term, we focus on an environmental study; looking at renewable sources of energy and wh

y they are so important.

In Summer, we learn all about the coast and it's varied features. We will create our own clay coastal stacks and learn about our local coastline along Formby to Ainsdale. Pupils will create their own Powerpoint presentations of what they have learnt.
